FINNJET-Harbours

In this special I want to explain all places where Finnjet calls and how the arrival and departure procedures work. I've put some maps with the ways of Finnjet. Also some harbour photos (without Finnjet) are added here.

When Finnjet arrives from St. Petersburg to reach the D-Terminaali she comes from the North and can just sail into the Harbour to quay 5 or 7. When she arrives from Rostock, she comes from the West, and Finnjet has to make a more narrow curve before passing the breakwater. Then quay 5 or 7 is also very near. When Finnjet departs to St. Petersburg, she has to go backwards until the breakwater is passed in some distance. There Finnjet has to turn (whether to east or west) to take a north-western course (later north-east) to St. Petersburg. When Finnjet is departing to Rostock, she also has to go backwards until she's out of the harbour. Then Finnjet has to head north-westerly and shortly later only west to the west.

Rostock -------------->

In Rostock Finnjet has to pass a long channel to get to the "Breitling", the big waterplate and turning place for many ferries. In general the arrival to Finnjet's parkingposition, the LP54, is rather easy, as no turns etc. have to be done. Actually LP 54 is one of the most easy reachable parkingpositions at all... Anyway departing Rostock is again bit more complicated. Finnjet has to make almost a 180° turn along Pier 1 right after leaving the quay. After that Finnjet passes the sea channel and buoy fairway again and can now continue it's way to Tallinn...

Helsinki -------------->

- = Arriving in Helsinki
- = Departing from Helsinki

In Helsinki Finnjet had to pass Kustaanmiekka and sail around Suomenlinna to reach Helsinki's Katajannokka Terminal. When departing, she had to go backwards about 1,5 km. Now a 90° turn is needed (You can see that in the image) After turning, Finnjet could sail forward, around Suomenlinna to Tallinn...
