The
TransRussiaExpress is operated by Finnlines. The route Lübeck-Sassnitz-Baltijsk-St.Petersburg
is serviced twice weekly by the ships MS Translubeca and MS Finlandia. The
main focus on this 59-hour-trip (Lübeck-St. Petersburg) or 46-hour-trip
(Sassnitz-St.Petersburg) is clearly on the cargo transport. Although on board
MS Translubeca is even less going on than on the other ships of the Hansa-Class,
Finnlines offers a few passenger places. As usual at Finnlines, bridge and
engineroom visits are included. Additionally the trip includes another rare
thing: The journey along river Trave from Lübeck up to the open sea!
Generally speaking, it is anyway not recommendable to travel to Russia by
TransRussiaExpress as a passenger, even on Finnjet that journey lasts already
37 hours..! For cargo customers, who aren't in a hurry and who don't need
a Paradise Bar & co. TransRussiaExpress is probably still the best choice.
But Note: In hard winters it's possible that the traffic may just freeze!
