Finnjet Liveries
since 1977 - up to now

Finnjet's first livery was the grey Yardpaint. Finnjet was painted, as far one can even say so, in these colours 1975-1977.

When Finnjet was finally ready she got the darkblue-white Finnlines dress with the big and white "FINNJET" chars. The decks were red coloured, as same as the underwater part of the vessel. Finnjet was painted like this 1977-1986.

This interesting livery Finnjet was only wearing for 1 year. On this photo Finnjet isn't Finnlines anymore, now it's "Finnjet-Line" and the logo didn't change in any way, only that you can see two light blue stripes beside the "FINNJET" chars. Furthermore you can see the new CC Cabins on Deck 9. Only in 1986 Finnjet looked like this.

Then it "happend": Finnjet was a Silja Line ship! The "FINNJET" letters are still standing behind the "Silja Line" text, although they are smaller and blue on white instead of white on blue. On both funnels you can now see the EFFOA funnel-sign (2 white stripes on black ground). The Silja Seal had his place on both sides just behind (or just in front of) the "Silja Line" chars. The Decks were now green coloured. Finnjet had this livery 1987-1988.

Only one year after the Integration to the Silja fleet there were already the first design changes: The former blue went to a very dark blue (looks like black). Finnjet was coloured like that in 1988-1990.

Thereafter Finnjet got once more a design change. The EFFOA funnel sign was removed after the Joint Venture with Johnson Line and replaced by Silja's funnel sign (Seal). Therefore the new EffJohn logo came to both sides of the front staircases in Deck 8's level. (see below) Furthermore the EFFOA-sign went to a decoration with 3 stripes on darkblue ground. BUT: Both Silja-Seals were looking to the front, so one of them is the wrong way round. Finnjet was painted like that in 1990-1993.

The mistake was fixed and both Seals were looking to the right - as it should be. Finnjet had these colours in 1993-1994.

Another small Design-change: The "SILJA LINE FINNJET" paint was now coloured in a brighter blue than the rest. Through that the ship got a bit more "Silja Line Character" but anyway the mix of light and dark blue looked bit strange (at least to me :) ). That was Finnjet's dress in 1994-1997.
from the book "Fährschifffahrt der Welt"
In 1996 the FINNJET "lampboxes" on the Outside-Deck were removed and on this photo you can even see the "Norsat balls" above the CC Cabins! This was all done before the big Renovation; in a short Docking Period.

In 1997, with the big renovation at Cityvarvet in Gothenburg Finnjet got a totally new paint! Everything was now in the light Silja blue. (no Mixtures anymore) New FINNJET chars at the sundeck have also been installed. The new font is in blue on white ground. But those are no lamp boxes anymore, only letter "pieces" and those aren't even lightened at night. That was Finnjet's dress in 1997-2006.

After the Silja sale to Tallink, Finnjet remained at the ex. owner company of Silja: SeaContainers Ltd. Therefore all Silja Logos and letters had to be removed or painted over. Also the home port was changed to Nassau, which meant a replacement of all Mariehamn signs on the ship and its lifeboats.

FURTHERMORE FINNJET HAD SMALLER LABELS:

Logo Description
Copyright WWF
You found this Logo in the time of ca. 1987-1995 on Finnjet. It shows that onboard of Finnjet money is won for the WWF. Up to ca. 1995 one could play Roulette and Bingo onboard Finnjet and what Silja Line took in was for the WWF. The Logo was below the bridgewings in the level of Deck 5 and 6 on both sides. If you don't know this it seems to make no sense: The natureunfriendly Finnjet (the Fuel flow!!!) with a WWF Logo...
EffJohn Logo
Starting ca. 1993 you also found this logo on Finnjet. It was located at the both front stairhouses at the level of Deck 8. The sign is Logo of the EffJohn company, a joint venture of EFFOA and Johnson Line. Up to ca. 1997 this logo was on all of Silja's ships.
Copyright Moomin Since 2001 Silja Line is "the official Seacarrier of Moomin". Therefore a Moomin Logo was painted on the walls of all Silja ferries. On Finnjet the logo is located at the middle staircase on starboard (former EffJohn logo was also located there). Because of a window on the other side the Moomin Label could only be painted to the starboard staircase. After the taking over by SeaContainers the logo was removed.
Furthermore every year in Christmas time Finnjet (as same as all other Silja vessels) gets this metal plate to the place where the WWF logo used to besome years before.

I can't guarantee for 100% Correctness. Please tell me about mistakes if there are! Thanks.
